Untitled (Grids), 2019. Oil on card, 11x12cm1
1. ‘Trees, or grids’ is a quotation from Foucault’s Of Other Spaces, Heterotopias, 1967. The phrase ‘series, trees, or grids’ is used to describe the way sites are organised in the modern world, as opposed to the hierarchical (religious) system of the medieval world. This painting is of some actual trees.
